This article may end up on Codeproject, so I didn't want to go into much detail about PowerBasic in it. But for those who read it here on my web site, my experience with PowerBasic has taught me a great deal about how Windows works under the hood and how one can tap into the power of the Windows API. Please do not read into this article the idea that I somehow view PowerBasic flawed or somehow inferior to Visual Basic. The few areas which it does lack (in the GUI area) I have easily overcoming by writing my own GUI libraries and tapping into the Windows API. But Visual Basic could have learned quite a bit from PowerBasic and there are many Visual Basic programmers, who while not quite ready to tackle a language like PowerBasic, would really desire some form of Visual Basic be brought back. IMO, the combination of a new Visual Basic (classis style) along with PowerBasic would be an amazing combination. If you never heard of PowerBasic, please visit their web site at: http://powerbasic.com

I would have assumed that Windows 8 would have some decent video drivers for at least common video chip sets. The question is though, is how do you get video drivers for Windows 8 ? Can you use WIndows 7 drivers ?
