The day of the Windows tablet !

I have to just say that it is now the “day of the Windows tablet” !

Or in simpler terms, Windows 8.1 tablets in the 8 inch size for a truly affordable price have finally come. Intels quad core Atom SOC’s (system on a chip) have made this possible and some very nice 8 inch tablets are not only on the market right now, but the price is right. The lowest one yet has been the Dell Venue 8 Pro for only $229 and free shipping. Lenovos Miix 2 8 tablet is selling for a nice $249 and so is the Toshiba Encore WT8-A32M tablet.

My choice right now is between the Dell and Lenovo tablets. I like Dell’s rubber like back side, while the Lenovo has a betterĀ (8 megapixel) camera in the back side. Now these tablets only come with a 32 gig drive, but for PowerBasic programmers like myself that is still a lot of disk space.

The quality and price of smaller size Windows tablets is now coming into its own and for a business I think it is a great deal.
